Music to your Ears: Lake Arrowhead Village’s Summer Concert Series

There is no sweeter time of year than summer. The kids are out of school, the weather is gorgeous, and the days are long. With holidays, such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, it makes for a great opportunity to extend the holiday over a week-long vacation with family and friends. Of course, vacation doesn’t have to be limited to just these times throughout the summer, and your stay doesn’t have to be limited to your ordinary amusement park or campground.

Lake Arrowhead’s Summer Concert Series is sure to entertain visitors each weekend. The Summer Concert Series begins the weekend of May 9th and concludes on September 1st. Each Friday and Saturday evening, listeners can enjoy a variety of music from country tribute bands to rock and roll tribute bands to the blues.

Music begins each weekend evening at 6:30 pm in the heart of the Lake Arrowhead Village. Music goers can enjoy all the concerts for free; however, if interested in purchasing a table reservation, this can be done by calling before the date of the concert. Table reservations are taken Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm by calling (909) 337-2533. There is also a beer garden available, which opens 30 minutes prior to each concert. The summer holidays bring an added bonus of music with bands playing Friday, May 23rd through Monday, May 26th for Memorial Day Weekend; Thursday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 6th for the 4th of July weekend; and Friday, August 29th through Monday, September 1st for the Labor Day weekend. Concerts being held on Mondays will be from 1 pm to 3 pm. Visitors to the beautiful Lake Arrowhead area, on these special weekends, will enjoy tribute bands such as Wild Child, a Doors tribute band; Wanted, a Bon Jovi tribute band; Neil Deal, a Neil Young tribute band; and some of the great 60s, 70s, and 80s music.

2014 Annual Antique and Wooden Boat Show

Each year, a little bit of history graces the waters and docks of Lake Arrowhead. This year will be no different with the 2014 Annual Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Show coming to town June 7-8.

Hundreds of people will flock to this beautiful resort paradise to see a display of some of the finest wooden boats ever made. The much anticipated and featured boat at this year’s show is the “Empress.” She’s a 1938 GarWood 22 foot model 915 Streamliner, and is just one of nine of this model ever made. ae6a0713a6cc056857b7d65c06e7c22eThe show is sponsored and put on by the Rim of the World Historical Society, the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS), the Arrowhead Lake Association, the Lake Arrowhead Village, the Up The Hill Woodie Club, Street Rods Forever, and the Trompers.

Wooden boats were introduced in the 1920s and grew in popularity until they began being replaced by aluminum and fiberglass structures in the mid-20th Century; however, the desire to preserve the wooden boat history and the hobby of wooden boating remains alive. The ACBS brings fellow boat owners and enthusiasts together and sponsors many events to keep the history of these beautiful vessels vibrant.
